How plan and usage limits work in Postoria

Postoria plans include different limits depending on your current plan.

Some limits are monthly, such as monthly published post limits. Other limits are plan-based capacity limits, such as the number of social accounts or workspaces included in your plan.

This article explains where to check your limits, when monthly limits reset, how published posts are counted, and what happens when a limit is reached.

Where to check your current plan and usage

You can check your current plan, limits, and usage on the Plan page:

https://app.postoria.io/plan

The Plan page is the best place to confirm how much of a limit has already been used during the current month.

Types of plan limits

Postoria may use different types of limits depending on the plan and feature.

Monthly usage limits

Monthly limits reset on a schedule. For example, the Free plan includes a monthly published post limit.

Monthly limits reset on the first day of every calendar month, regardless of when you signed up, when you created your workspace, or when you started using Postoria.

For example, monthly limits reset on:

  • June 1
  • July 1
  • August 1

Plan capacity limits

Plan capacity limits do not reset monthly. They define how much is included in your current plan.

Examples include:

  • The number of social accounts you can connect
  • The number of workspaces you can create or use
  • Plan-based feature access

If you reach a capacity limit, you may need to remove existing items or upgrade your plan before adding more.

Current plan limit examples

The exact limits available to you depend on your current plan.

Common plan limit examples include:

Use the Plan page for your current limits and usage, because it reflects your active plan.

How monthly post limits work

Monthly post limits are based on successfully published posts during a calendar month.

Only successfully published posts count toward monthly publishing limits. Drafts, scheduled posts, and queued posts do not count before they are published.

Each new calendar month starts with a new monthly allowance based on your current plan.

How posts are counted when publishing to multiple accounts

Monthly publishing limits are counted per successful publish destination.

If you publish the same content to multiple social accounts or destinations at the same time, each successful publish counts separately toward your monthly post limit.

For example, if you publish one post to 6 selected destinations, it counts as 6 published posts.

This means a single scheduled or queued item can use more than 1 post from your monthly allowance if it publishes to multiple accounts or destinations.

Which posts count toward monthly publishing limits

Only published posts count toward monthly publishing limits.

These posts count:

  • Posts published immediately
  • Scheduled posts after they are successfully published
  • Queued posts after they are successfully published
  • Recycled posts after each successful publish
  • Each successful publish to each selected social account or destination

These posts do not count before they are published:

  • Drafts
  • Scheduled posts waiting to publish
  • Queued posts waiting in a queue
  • Imported posts that have not been published yet

Do deleted posts still count?

Yes. Once a post has been published, it counts toward the monthly limit for that month.

If you delete the post later, it still remains counted because the publish already happened.

Do failed posts count?

No. A post counts only after it is successfully published.

If a post fails to publish, it does not count toward the monthly post limit.

What happens when you reach a limit

What happens depends on the type of limit.

If you reach a monthly publishing limit, new publish attempts may fail until the limit resets at the start of the next calendar month. This can apply to posts that would publish immediately, scheduled posts, queued posts, and recycled posts.

If a post fails because a monthly publishing limit has been reached, Postoria sends an email notification unless you have opted out of failed post email notifications in your settings.

You can manage failed post email notifications on the Settings page:

https://app.postoria.io/settings

If you reach a plan capacity limit, such as a social account or workspace limit, Postoria may prevent you from adding more until you remove existing items or upgrade your plan.

Is there a warning before the monthly post limit is reached?

Postoria currently does not send a warning when you are approaching the monthly post limit.

To avoid missed scheduled or queued posts, check your usage on the Plan page before publishing many posts near the end of the month:

https://app.postoria.io/plan

Does the monthly post limit affect uploads, drafts, or scheduling?

Monthly publishing limits affect publishing only.

They do not stop you from creating drafts, uploading media, preparing scheduled posts, or adding posts to queues.

However, when those posts later try to publish, they must still fit within your remaining monthly post allowance.
