How to use Queues in Postoria
Queues let you add posts to a recurring publishing schedule instead of choosing a separate date and time for every post.
Queues are available on Pro and Agency plans.
Before you start
Here are the main things to know before using Queues:
- A queue belongs to one workspace.
- Queue slots use your workspace time zone.
- A queued post has the Queued status until Postoria processes it.
- A paused queue will not publish posts.
- A queue needs at least one slot before it can publish anything.
- If a queue has no queued posts when a slot arrives, Postoria skips that slot and waits for the next one.
How Queues work
A queue has two parts:
- Posts - the content waiting inside the queue.
- Slots - the recurring times when Postoria should publish the next post.
For example, you can create a queue called Evergreen Tips with these slots:
- Monday 09:00
- Wednesday 14:30
- Friday 10:00
Then you can add posts to that queue. When each slot arrives, Postoria picks a queued post based on the queue order and publishes it.
Create a queue
- Open Postoria.
- Go to Queues.
- Click Add.
- Enter a queue name.
- Choose the queue order.
- Choose whether to enable Recycle posts.
- Add one or more slots.
- Click Create.
The queue is now ready to receive posts.
Add queue slots
A slot is a recurring publishing time.
For each slot, choose:
- Day of week
- Time
Times use your workspace time zone.
You can add several slots to the same queue. For example, if you want a queue to publish three times per week, add three weekly slots.
Bulk edit slots
If you want to add several slots quickly, use Bulk edit.
Use one slot per line:
Monday 09:00
Wednesday 14:30
Friday 10:00
Use full weekday names and 24-hour time in HH:mm format.
After applying bulk edit, Postoria validates the format and checks for duplicate slots.
Choose queue order
Queue order controls how Postoria picks the next post when a queue slot is processed.
First in, first out
Postoria publishes the first post in the queue first.
Use this when you want posts to go out in the same order they are arranged.
Last in, first out
Postoria publishes the last post in the queue first.
Use this when newer or lower-positioned posts should go out before older ones.
Random
Postoria picks a random queued post when the slot is processed.
Use this for content where the exact order does not matter.
When a queue uses random order, calendar previews show the slot as a random post from that queue instead of showing a guaranteed future post.
Reorder queued posts
On the queue details page, you can reorder queued posts.
Drag a queued post to move it higher or lower in the queue. This affects queues that use First in, first out or Last in, first out.
Manual ordering is not used for queues with Random order.
Shuffle queued posts
Use Shuffle all to quickly randomize the visible order of posts in a queue.
This changes the manual queue order. It is useful when you want more variety but still want the queue to follow a fixed order afterward.
Recycle posts
If Recycle posts is enabled, Postoria will add a post back to the queue after it is processed.
This is useful for posts that can be reused over time, such as:
- Tips
- Blog links
- Product reminders
- Service explanations
- Brand messages
If Recycle posts is off, a queued post leaves the queue after it is processed.
Add a post to a queue
You can add a post to a queue from the post editor.
- Open or create a post.
- Select the accounts you want to use.
- In the top row, choose Queue instead of Publish at.
- Select the queue.
- Click Add to queue.
The post changes to the Queued status and waits for the next matching queue slot.
Add bulk uploaded posts to a queue
When using Bulk Upload, you can choose a queue as part of the upload target.
Posts are first created as drafts. After that, you can queue all draft posts from the bulk upload flow.
This is useful when you import many posts and want them to publish over time instead of scheduling each one manually.
Add automation content to a queue
Automations can also add new posts to a queue.
When setting up an automation, choose the action that adds new content to a queue. This is useful when you want automation content to enter a controlled publishing rhythm instead of going live immediately.
View queue previews in the calendar
The calendar can show queue previews alongside scheduled posts.
For normal queue order, Postoria can preview which queued post is expected to appear in a future slot.
For random queue order, the calendar shows a random queue preview, such as:
🎲 Random post from Evergreen Tips
This keeps the calendar useful without pretending that a random future post is guaranteed.
Convert a queued post back to draft
If you do not want a post to stay in a queue:
- Open the queued post.
- Choose Convert to draft.
Postoria removes the post from the queue and changes it back to draft.
Delete a queue
You can delete a queue only after removing its queued posts.
If a queue still contains queued posts, Postoria will ask you to convert or remove those posts first.
Deleting a queue does not delete posts that already left the queue.
Common questions
Can I use Queues on the Free plan?
No. Queues are available on Pro and Agency plans.
Do queued posts get scheduled dates immediately?
No. Queued posts do not get fixed scheduled dates ahead of time. Postoria processes them when queue slots arrive.
Can I use both Publish at and Queue on the same post?
No. A post can either have a specific publish date or be added to a queue.
What happens if the queue is paused?
Paused queues do not publish posts until they are resumed.
What happens if a queue slot arrives but the queue is empty?
Postoria skips that slot and waits for the next one.
Does Random order change the visible order of posts?
No. Random order picks a random post when a slot is processed. It does not reorder the queue list.
Use Shuffle all if you want to change the visible order of queued posts.
