Issues when adding a YouTube channel to Postoria

When connecting a YouTube channel to Postoria, you may run into issues. This can happen, and in many cases the cause is a Google/YouTube limitation or account setup issue rather than a Postoria bug.

Postoria connects through YouTube’s official API, so it follows the same rules and limitations as other third-party tools. Once connected, you can plan and publish videos with Postoria’s YouTube scheduling.

We recommend connecting your YouTube channel from a desktop browser. It’s the most reliable way to complete Google/YouTube permission screens, while mobile and tablet browsers may not finish the connection flow consistently. After your channel is connected, you can use Postoria normally on mobile and tablet devices—this is the only device-specific limitation we’ve seen.

Why your YouTube channel isn’t listed during connection

In most cases, the Google account you used to sign in doesn’t have access to the channel you’re trying to connect, or the connection flow didn’t complete cleanly.

Common reasons include:

  • You signed in with the wrong Google account (often due to saved browser sessions or auto-selected accounts)
  • The channel is managed under a different Google account or Brand Account
  • Your role doesn’t have enough permissions for the channel to appear
  • You didn’t grant all requested permissions during the Google login flow
  • VPNs, ad blockers, privacy extensions, or cached sessions interfered with the login flow
  • Google/YouTube temporarily didn’t return your channel list during connection

Fix it in 5 steps

Try these steps in order:

  1. Confirm the correct Google account. Sign out of all Google accounts, open an Incognito/Private window, then start the connection again and choose the correct account.

  2. Make sure the channel exists on that account. If the Google account has no YouTube channel, create one, confirm it’s accessible in YouTube Studio, then try connecting again.

  3. Check channel type. In many team workflows, YouTube channels work best as brand channels because they support multiple managers. You can check whether your channel is a brand channel in Google Brand Accounts. If it’s personal, convert it first: How to change a personal YouTube channel to a brand channel.

  4. Check your role and permissions. In YouTube Studio, go to Settings and check Permissions to confirm your role. If your role is Manager, the channel may still not appear in some cases. If that happens, ask the channel owner to change your role to Owner (or Primary Owner) and try connecting again. Alternatively, ask someone with an Owner role to connect the channel from their own Google login.

Note: After a role change, it may take a few minutes for access to update everywhere.

  5. Remove blockers and retry cleanly. Temporarily disable VPNs, ad blockers, and privacy extensions, then reconnect from an Incognito/Private window and approve all requested permissions.

Notes for teams

If you’re working with a client channel:

  • YouTube client channels work best as brand channels (not personal channels).
  • If you’re only a manager and can’t connect the channel, ask the channel owner/client to connect from their own Google login.

What to send support if you’re still stuck

If the steps above don’t help, contact Postoria support and include:

  • The YouTube channel link
  • Whether it’s a personal or brand channel
  • Your role (Manager/Owner/Primary Owner)
  • A short description of what happens during connection
  • Screenshots of the connection flow (if possible)

This helps us identify the cause quickly and advise the next steps.

Conclusion

Most YouTube connection issues can be resolved by confirming the correct Google account, verifying channel type (brand vs. personal), and checking roles and permissions. If you’re stuck, Postoria support can help you troubleshoot.
